pop culture

There was a day (albeit one with many fewer channels involved) that I could pretty much quote the TV lineup for any evening of the week, and most of the weekend as well. Those days - thank goodness - are long gone. These days, I'm lucky if I can manage to find much beyond Spongebob Squarepants on television.

Stepping out of that television world of new, new, new and buy, buy, buy has been good for me as a person, but I am no longer up on pop culture. In some ways, I think that pop culture idea is for the teenagers, who so much of it is aimed at, and not for us "fogeys." In other ways, its kind of like that person that gets stuck in a clothing style, and never moves on. Truth to tell, I'm not much of one to keep up with fashion either. hmmm.

Still, while I'm not up in "pop" culture, I don't think my culture "style" is really stuck, either. I'm more a part (however fringey) of the computer "pop" culture. Or at least parts of it. I like blogging, but I'm not into heavy social networking of facebook or myspace. I enjoy online gaming, though and that has some social aspects.

Anyway, I've been thinking about that popular culture thing, lately, and decided that I'm still comfortable not being popular.

I'm on Facebook and MySpace, and they can be time sinks. I'm not, however, popular or cool, and like you, I'm good with it.

But the new series "Leverage" is pretty good, for what it's worth.
